Planetarium for Astrophysics University - Full project and Archviz

This study of a new Planetarium Programme aims to revitalize and popularize astronomy and science in Romania's academic environment.

The form that the project takes, is an extension (in red throughout the project) to the existing Astrophysics University near Bucharest ( generally shown in blue throughout the presentation). This will also become the main entrance of the facility.

The project creates multiple spaces with different feel for each.
1: the garden on the entry. An important step when creating the space, as it connects two other interior gardens.

The planetarium sphere inside acts like a gravitational node when seen from every spot.

When seen from the outside, the garden is very permissive and open.

The mesh on the facade has carefully placed perforations that allow for certain visual phenomena to happen inside.

2: The interior garden of the University.
This is a very ample space, so it becomes a natural park area.

3: The planetarium

The main focus of the project. An element that connnects all others.

The sphere bends the walls around it, as if gravity pulls them.

4: The exhibition. An old gym converted into a new exhibition hall.

The beams and structure are kept to add an atmospheric lighting pattern.
